Icelandic trio Fufanu are almost impossible to pigeon hole. Synth heavy and full of 80s post punk sounds but taking inspiration from techno, there is rejection of conformity right down to the very core. There is also an element of tongue-in-cheek about some of their stuff, in particular the new 'Liability' video, which features retro sports gear galore. At odds with the serious lyrics that deal with political discord, the irony is indicative of some sense of humour. The new album Sports is out now via One Little Indian, and with it Fufanu prove to be one of the most unique bands to come out of Iceland of late. - SJ
